Vanuatu Mission
Thank you for your prayers for the Vanuatu Mission Team at the Talua Ministry Training Centre and surrounding districts. God has expressed his goodness to us on many occasions.
Our team of 26 people were excellent, making the most of every opportunity, and we had a fantastic time. It was a life changing time.
We largely achieved our goal of building the foundations and walls of the new staff house. This was not easy due to some delays waiting for cement and timber, and insufficient concrete blocks. Two other Presbyterian churches will follow up in the months ahead to finish the house.
Our team was also welcomed into two local primary schools to give programmes including songs, bible stories, testimonies, puppet shows, Maori stick games, craft activities and sporting programmes. Our doctors were able to visit the local medical clinic and the hospital in Luganville. Sue Macaulay was invited to give a seminar on family planning for the Talua Ministry Centre for women and Sue and Martin Macaulay gave an ethics lecture on Ecology and Abortion.
Most important of all, the team built friendships with the Vanuatu people, especially their host families at Talua and learned much from living and working in another culture.
We have identified areas for ongoing partnership with Talua, including keeping in touch with and praying for the students and staff there; helping with clothes for students from Santo Presbytery; continuing our sponsorship of bush missioners (and other students) and work associated with their theological library.
If you would like more information about St Paul's mission to Vanuatu, please contact Martin Macaulay or visit the links to the Talua Training Centre and the PCANZ mission in Vanuatu.
