At St Paul's, our main children's programme is held on the first and third Sunday of the month during our afternoon gathering; 'The Living Room' from 4-5.30pm. We eat together, play together and then separate so the kids can get creative in their learning and the oldies can grapple with issues relating to life and faith (and get a bit creative too.
It's a great time to learn about God, learn about ourselves, and learn about how God can use who we are to impact our world.
Our mission statement is “To encourage and equip children to become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ”.
During the weekly 9:30am service we aim to involve our kids more meaningfully in our time together because it is our life in worship that we must open up to our children if they are going to grasp its meaning and its coherency. We have the kids join us in worship up until our teaching time, and sometimes afterwards too, and then give them a break in their own space.
At both our children's programmes we follow the Scripture Union Light material so that our kids' learning happens on a structured level as well as an interactive and social level, which occurs at the opening time and the conclusion of both services.
At St Paul's we value the role that the children play in the life of our church and we are continually seeking to encourage and equip them as they wrestle with an understnading of who God is and how he is fully present in our daily lives.
